Its all about Afghanistan.

Seven years ago, in the wake of 9/11, I wrote an article about the dangers of getting involved in a ground war in Afghanistan. At the time, the relative ease with which we dispatched the ruling Taliban regime prompted some friends and associates to question my logic. Well, unfortunately, its looking more and more like those predictions are coming true. According to CNN,

• Violence is up 543 percent in the last five years,

• Drug cultivation is up 100 percent since 2003, and

• Afghan support for international forces in Afghanistan is down by 33 percent in the past few months.

And guess what? We’re so depleted in Iraq we don’t have anyone to send over to fix the situation. Chalk another one up for Georgie.
