This article wasn’t meant as a rational dissection of the big ticket issues facing the country — i certainly wouldn’t have titled it after Ice-T if that was the case – its more a ‘lets go to the polls and seal the deal’ rant mostly for the readers who are already voting for Obama. At this point, I would assume that people have made up their minds. If not, and you know any undecideds out there, I’d be happy to talk directly about the issues, which several of the other articles I’ve written deal more directly with. But I imagine everyone pretty much knows who they’re voting for.

But honestly, I don’t think the Republican party has much of a leg to stand on when comes to the ‘issues’ at this point. Which is why McCain’s been avoiding them the entire campaign. Its hard to justify a party whose President has a 28% approval rating and has turned us into the biggest debtors in the world; its also hard to justify putting Sarah Palin — who doesn’t believe in evolution and probably couldnt locate Iran on a map and thinks that if you’re raped by your father you still shouldn’t be able to get an abortion– anywhere NEAR the Oval Office.

I was a big fan of John McCain in 2000. Unfortunately he has followed the advice of the current Republican leadership and banked everything on an odious culture war pitting “Real Americans” against “the rest of us”. He’s the one who’s avoiding the issues. He’s been avoiding the issues this entire campaign. And luckily, we won’t have to hear much more from him after about 16 hours from now.

Come on, J, you need a better argument than this if you are going to convince anyone reading to vote Obama today.
